# How to Prevent Thread Stripping in Industrial Assemblies
Thread stripping occurs when the shear stress on the threads exceeds the strength of the material. This often happens due to over-torquing, misalignment, or using the wrong material grade.
1. Correct Torque Application
Always use a calibrated torque wrench. Never rely on 'feel' for critical structural joints. Over-torquing stretches the bolt beyond its yield point, thinning the threads and leading to stripping.2. Proper Alignment (Avoid Cross-Threading)
Ensure the fastener is perpendicular to the hole. Start the first few turns by hand to feel the engagement. If you feel resistance early, back out and restart.3. Material Compatibility
Using a high-strength bolt in a soft tapped hole (like steel in aluminum) increases the risk of stripping the internal threads. Ensure the engagement length is sufficient for the material's shear strength.PROJECT REQUIREMENTS?
