Defining Tensile Strength
Bolt 'Grades' indicate the strength and hardness of the material. For high-tensile applications, Grade 8.8 and 10.9 are the standard.
#
Grade 8.8 (The Structural Workhorse)
- **Tensile Strength:** 800 N/mm²
- **Yield Strength:** 640 N/mm²
- **Common Use:** General structural steelwork and heavy-duty repairs.
#
Grade 10.9 (The High-Strength Solution)
- **Tensile Strength:** 1000 N/mm²
- **Yield Strength:** 900 N/mm²
- **Common Use:** Engine bolts, automotive components, and bridge construction.
